Omarh Rajah | Biography
Omarh Rajah was born in Washington, DC, and grew up in Chesterfield County. He graduated from Manchester High School and Randolph-Macon College, and received a Master's Degree from Virginia State University.
After receiving his Master's Degree, he taught history, first at Amelia County High School, and then at Manchester High School, here in Chesterfield. Since 2003, he has worked at the Federal Correctional Facility in Petersburg, where he works with inmates preparing to re-enter society, helping them apply for jobs and training and education programs.
Before serving on the School Board, he was appointed to Lt. Governor Bill Bolling's Advisory Committee, working to find solutions to childhood obesity and other issues affecting young people. He also organized Chesterfield County's first Comprehensive Anti-Gan Training Summit, bringing leaders from law enforcement, education, health care, and government, in order to help them learn how to identify and deal with signs of gang activity.
In 2007, he was elected to the School Board from the Matoaca District, becoming the first teacher ever elected to the School Board from Matoaca. He and his wife Vantrece live in the Collington Subdivision. Their daughter Yasmin attends Bailey Bridge Middle School, and their son Omarh, Jr., attends Spring Run Elementary School. The family attends Spring Creek Baptist Church.
